Recent Announcements

8/15/15: Solutions to the HW and Exams have been removed from the public course web site - please E-mail me if you wish to obtain a copy of the solutions.

------------------------------------------------------------

Final course grades are available on GauchoSpace.

------------------------------------------------------------

8/4/15: Grades for HW4, HW5, and the Final Exam have been posted to GauchoSpace.

------------------------------------------------------------

8/3/15: The solutions to the final exam have been posted here. For reference, the final exam is posted here. EDIT: The term m* = mR at the bottom of page 16 should read m* = mR^2.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/31/15: HW5 solutions have been posted.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/29/15: Grades for HW3 have been posted on Gauchospace.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/29/15: HW4 solutions have been posted.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/28/15: Policies for the final exam have been posted above. Also, typos have been corrected in equations 15 and 16 of the "Special Relativity Part One" lecture notes - the relation between the primed and unprimed coordinates was incorrect, and the velocity was measured with respect to the wrong time coordinate. Lastly, please fill out the poll for determining the time of the final exam review session, which can be found here.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/27/15: A typo has been corrected in equation 65 of the Two-Body Problem notes - a prime was missing from one of the integration variables.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/25/15: Typos have been corrected in equation 33 of the scattering notes, and equation 35 of the Galilean Relativity notes. In addition, some clarifying material has been added to the lecture notes on the two-body problem, with some discussion regarding the physical interpretation of the difference vector.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/23/15: HW5 has been posted. Please note that it is due IN LECTURE on the last day of class.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/22/15: HW3 solutions have been posted.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/16/15: HW4 has been posted.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/15/15: HW1 grades are now officially available on Gauchospace. Also, please note that the room for the final exam has been changed. It is now in Phelps 2516.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/15/15: A typo has been corrected in HW3. In problem 2a, the definition of the scaled time variable was missing a factor of k.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/14/15: HW1 and Midterm grades are now available on Gauchospace (HW1 grades will be available soon).

------------------------------------------------------------

7/14/15: The midterm has been graded. Michael will have the midterms to hand back to you during office hours tomorrow. The average score on the midterm was 62.9/100, and the standard deviation was 19.2. A histogram of the scores can be found
here. A moderate scaling of the midterm scores might be performed, but I have *NOT* yet decided on the details of this scaling.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/12/15: The deadlines for HW3 and HW4 have been pushed back by a day.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/10/15: The solutions to the midterm have been posted here.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/9/15: The solutions to HW2 have been posted. Also, a change has been made to HW3 - the homework has been divided into two problem sets. Set A contains problems 1,2,4,8,9,11,12, while Set B contains problems 3,5,6,7,10. Please choose five problems from Set A to do, and also choose three problems from Set B. This is also explained at the end of the HW3 PDF.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/8/15: A clarification has been made in the midterm exam policies. Also, please remember that Michael's review session is tomorrow (Thursday) at 4 PM.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/7/15: Please fill out the Review Session poll before the end of today.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/6/15: HW3 has been posted.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/5/15: Detailed policies for the midterm exam can be found here.

------------------------------------------------------------

7/3/15: The solutions to HW1 have been posted. Also, lecture notes from Michael's discussion sections have been made available. Please remember that we will be having a normal lecture during this coming week's discussion section time.

------------------------------------------------------------

6/29/15: The final exam has been scheduled - it will be Friday July 31st, from 4PM to 7PM, in Phelps 3519 (the same as class). The midterm will be in-class, on Friday, July 10th. More details regarding official exam policies will be available soon.

------------------------------------------------------------

HW2 has been posted.

------------------------------------------------------------

6/26/15: My office hours have been scheduled, and are listed above.

------------------------------------------------------------

6/23/15: Typos have been corrected in problems 2 and 4 of HW1. Also, some clarifications have been made in problems 3,5,6,7, and 8. Additionally, Michael's office hours in the PSR are now posted above - they are on Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

------------------------------------------------------------

6/22/15: The poll for the office hours has been made, and can be found here. PLEASE FILL OUT ALL TIMES THAT WORK FOR YOU! I'll choose a set of times in order to accommodate everyone the best that I can. Information about Michael's office hours in the PSR will be available soon.
