How to obtain a Mathematica License - UCSB Physics Department
1) Use our license server. This is the preferred method if you have
a desktop at UCSB.
IMPORTANT: The license server will NOT
work when you are away from UCSB.
After a new installation or when your current license is about to expire,
you will receive a pop-up window asking for a password.
1) Select the option for "Network License."
2) Enter the license server name: licenses.physics.ucsb.edu
3) Click OK
4) You can now use mathematica.
-
You can also edit the license file with a text editor such as Notepad.
1) Find the "mathpass" file in the installation directory.
-
First find the installation directory, then go to Configuration, and then
Licensing.
-
For a Windows installation, it might be:
C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\8.0\Configuration\Licensing
2) Open the file with a text editor. There should be one line only
with the following data:
!licenses.physics.ucsb.edu
3) Save and close the mathpass file.
4) You can now use Mathematica.
2) Request a password from the Wolfram registration site. This is
the preferred method for laptops and home users.
Please follow the current campus instructions found at
the campus Mathematica page.
