Spam Scoring and Filtering
Vacation and
Forwarding Instructions using Procmail
Spam
scoring happens just before
mail is delivered to local
accounts, so mail forwarding and vacation message setup must be handled
differently than in the past (the .forward file is no longer
used). The menu shell on mail.physics.ucsb.edu has been modified
to accommodate these changes.
Note that the mail server (mail.physics.ucsb.edu) only accepts ssh connections
from computers on the Physics network.
To connect from outside Physics, first ssh to shell.physics.ucsb.edu
or gshell.physics.ucsb.edu, on whichever computer you requested a shell account.
Enabling
or Disabling Mail
Forwarding in Conjunction with Spam Scoring
Log in to the
mail server at mail.physics.ucsb.edu via SSH and
choose Option 9 in
the Menu shell. This will modify your .procmailrc file to allow
forwarding (or create one if it doesn't exist).
Enabling
or Disabling a Vacation Message in Conjunction with Spam Scoring
Log in to the
mail server at mail.physics.ucsb.edu via SSH and
choose Option 12 in
the Menu shell. This will modify your .procmailrc file to allow
forwarding to the vacation program (or create one if it doesn't exist).
