  • Jean Carlson is a co-organizer of the Network Architectures of Brain Structures and Functions, and the Physics of Climate Change Program at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at UCSB.
  • Postdoc Dani Bassett and graduate student Nada Petrovic join Micah Brachman (Department of Geography, UCSB) in developing and performing a research survey of the Jesusita Fire (Santa Barbara, May 2009) evacuees to better understand human decision making in the context of natural disasters.

  • Dynamic reconfiguration of human brain networks during learning: Postdoc Dani Bassett and collaborators find that flexibility of brain network modularity predicts human learning.
  • Conserved and variable architecture of human white matter connectivity: Postdoc Dani Bassett and collaborators explore individual variation in human brain network structure and the reliability of current connectivity measurements.
  • Localization in dynamic ruptures: E. Daub and collaborators have found that shear banding has important implications for earthquake ruptures.
