Circular dichroism of purified silver cluster solutions
Circular dichroism (CD) is the chiral dependence of an object's absorption of light. CD measurements of purified Ag-DNA solutions, which contain homogenous populations of clusters, can shed light on the structure of Ag-DNAs. We are studying select purifiable Ag:DNAs using CD to learn more about the structure of these fluorescent silver clusters and how they interact with their DNA scaffolds.
Our recent publication in ACS Nano demonstrates that DNA-stabilized silver clusters display chiral transitions that are characteristic of filamentary, chiral silver clusters. DOI: 10.1021/nn5016067
