elaine is my best friend from wellesley. she lives in tucson now, where she studies bose-einstein condensation in the optics dept. of u of arizona. she is an awesome experimentalist. when we were at wellesley we did lots of fun stuff. once, she drove me all the way to providence, RI to get a tattoo of pi on my arm. she saved me from getting trampled by a police horse. another time we rented a wellesley-mobile and drove into boston to see the jon spencer blues explosion. she was always up for anything.

the wall

I took this picture in NYC over the christmas break. this window is covered in the dust from the fallout of the WTC crumbling. in the dust, are hundreds of phrases people wrote. although often, i am ashamed at how american global companies and our government act, you cannot take away our will and shear determination.
