Karo syrup fills the space between two concentric cylinders. The outer cylinder is transparent plastic, the inner a metal cylinder capable of rotating about its vertical axis. When the handle attached to the inner cylinder is slowly turned through several revolutions, the vertical dye marker spreads throughout the syrup. When the handle is then turned the opposite direction the same number of times, the dye marker is restored.
