Characteristics of the Lecture Halls in Broida Hall

Broida lecture halls

Broida 1610:

Seating capacity: 286 plus three wheelchair bays, two at back left, one at front left center (left when one is facing the audience). 31 seats have left-hand writing tablets (at audience’s left at the end of each row, except for the first and last rows of the center section), and three (A102, A114 and L114) are designed to accommodate handicapped people. (These seats have no tablet or end panel on the outside, a swing-up arm on the outside, and a right-hand (inside) writing tablet.)

Facilities:

*The wireless microphone, along with all of the audio-visual equipment listed above, belongs to the instructional development unit, NOT to the physics department. It will be available during your scheduled class time. If you need it for a special class session, please request it from Media Equipment at x3549 or Kerr Hall, room 1160.

A key is no longer necessary to operate the projectors. During scheduled hours, the system turns on when you touch the touch pad. If you would like to use the lectern computer, you must set up an account at Kerr Hall, room 1160. (You may also do this over the phone at x3549, but if you go to Kerr Hall, you will be able to check immediately that the account works.) If you have already set up an account, it should still be active.

The touch pad on the lectern has tiles that allow you to choose the various options. Though some slight changes may have occurred since it was written, this instruction sheet (.pdf) should be useful.

Note: Storage on the Instructional Development server is no longer available. If you used to upload your lecture materials to this server, for download when you logged in at the lecture hall, you can no longer do that. You will need to use either a flash drive or a web-accessible storage service such as Dropbox or Google Drive.

Broida 1640:

Seating capacity: 94 plus two wheelchair bays, one at back left and one at front right (when one faces the audience). Nine seats have left-hand writing tablets. These are one seat in the middle of row A (A105) and the end seat at the audience’s left in rows B through J. (There is no row I.)
