Configuring IMAP/POP-SSL and SMTP-SSL in Apple Mail (Mac OS X)

Open Mail.app, and go the Mail menu and select Preferences ...

Go to the Accounts section and select Account Information.

• For Incoming Mail Server, enter mail.physics.ucsb.edu
  
  

Click on the Server Settings button next to Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).

• For Outgoing Mail Server, enter smtp.physics.ucsb.edu
• Change the port number to 587.
• Check the radio button next to"Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) ".
• Enter your User Name and Password for the mail server.
• Click "OK."
  

Click on the Advanced tab.

• Click the checkbox next to "Use SSL". The port number should change to 993 for IMAP connections (995 for POP).

 

Close the Preferences window and Save new settings when prompted.
