Isotope Shift

As their electrons transition between quantum states, elemental isotopes absorb / emit radiation at slightly different wavelengths. The difference is known as the isotope shift. In this experiment you will gain practical experience with the technique of optical spectroscopy, use it to measure the Hydrogen-Deuterium iosotope shift and deduce the mass of a neutron.
