Physics 2, Summer 2002
Final Exam Information
Last updated: 7/27/02
What to Bring
Apart from the usual writing instruments (pen, pencil, eraser etc.) you
may only bring the following:
-
required: photo ID
-
optional: one sheet of notes (you can write on both sides), to be
turned in with your exam
-
optional: calculator (only to be used for numbers, not for programming
equations)
What to Review
Note the review day has been changed to Wednesday, July 31: see lecture
schedule page
You should review all material covered in class from Chapters 15-18.
This includes some problems dealing with topics not assigned in the homework,
and some derivations, but you will not be responsible for the derivations
of the following equations: 16-13, 16-21, 17-22, 17-24. You should
review all assigned homework from Chapters 15-17 (but not the Extra Credit
problems). Since there is no assigned homework for Chapter 18, we
will work sample problems from Chapter 18 in class.
What to Expect
Since the midterm topics were somewhat diverse (rotational dynamics, statics,
gravitation, periodic motion, fluid mechanics), the midterm problems were
kept rather simple and the equation sheet was broken down by chapter number
and topic. In contrast, the final exam topic is just thermodynamics
(Chapters 15-18) and so the final exam problems may be more in-depth or
combine more than one thermodynamic concept. There will probably
be four or five problems. You will be given an equation sheet at
the time of the exam, but not before (and the equations will not necessarily
be labeled by chapter number and topic).
