Financial Aid Information

Funds are available only for participants based in the Americas (North, South, or Central). Local expenses will be covered for all such participants *. Because our funding is through the U.S. National Science Foundation, to be eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses, participants should arrange flights that are in concordance with the Fly American Act of the U.S. Congress. This means that a U.S. Flag air carrier must be used if at all possible. In particular, flights between the U.S. and Mexico must be on U.S. flag air carriers. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact pasi@physics.ucsb.edu before making your reservations or financial aid request.

Local expenses will be covered for all participants from the Americas. List below the amount of additional money requested (in US Dollars) for travel expenses.

Please provide a brief justification of aid request. Include a list of travel points, estimated costs, and any relevant currency exchange rates. State the amount of support expected from the students home institution and other sources.

Before pressing Send, double check to make sure you have filled in every entry in both the `General' and `Financial Aid' sections of this form.

* While we welcome applications from outside the Americas, such participants must cover all of their travel and local expenses. In addition, such participants will be charged a registration fee of 150.00 USD for graduate students and 200.00 USD for post doctoral students. The registration fee will cover one meal per day at UNAM as well as transportation between hotel and UNAM. Participants will pay the registration fee upon arrival at Morelia. While the exact cost of the local hotels has not yet been set for summer 2010, we expect the cost to be roughly 60.00 USD per night.
