A new version of the Counting Nuclear Radiation handout has been posted here. Please take a careful look at the section starting at the bottom of page 3 that describes how to install your 1 GΩ resistor and use it to measure the tube voltage. This will be covered in lab tomorrow.
The homework assignments due next week will be posted in a few days.

Some resources and documentation for the first two
experiments (Soldering and Counting Nuclear Radiation)
have been posted
This week we will prepare for the labs by going
over some skills you will need to write your lab
reports. You will need to be able to use some
sort of scientific data analysis and plotting
software. If you already know Matlab, Mathematica,
or something similar, those are fine to use. If
not, I strongly recommend you use Python. Please
do not attempt to use a spreadsheet for this purpose.
You will be required to use LaTeX to write your lab reports. Many students choose to use an online LaTeX system called Overleaf. That's fine.
Lab sessions will be held on Zoom. The first meeting is today at 1:00 PM. This week's schedule can be found here. You will receive a link via email.
Please have a look at the assignments here.
